What's your jewellery made of?

All our silver jewellery is made from 925 silver - solid silver, not plated base metals. Our gold is made using solid 9ct yellow or rose gold.  All pieces are hallmarked in the UK.

I don't know what ring size I am - how can I tell?

The best way is to pop to a jewellers and get your finger sized. Most good jewellers will do this for free. If you can't make it to one, we do sell a ring multi sizer that will give you a UK ring size so you can make sure you choose the right size. Find it online here 

But..it's a surprise...I don't want my other half to know.  Is there a way I can tell without ruining the surprise?

I'm afraid there's no such thing as a 'standard' size for a ring - everyone is different. Using a piece of string gives a really rough guide but is often not accurate as string is bendy and thin, unlike a nice chunky signet ring. If your other half has a ring that fits, you can measure across the inside diameter and use that to convert it to a ring size, but short of sticking a ring sizer on his finger there's really no easy way to tell. Sorry.

Can I have my own symbols engraved?

We can do all sorts of symbols - on our list we have (but are not limited to...). bicycles, sea lions, whales, globes, compasses, flowers, hearts, stars, concentric stars, ampersands, @, hashtags, arrows... got an idea?  Get in touch.  

How long does it take from ordering to despatch?

Usually pieces are despatched within 1 day - if it's engraved we ask you to allow us 2 days to do it, but we always try to do it quicker if we can. More fiddly pieces such as silver traveller bracelets might take us a week, but we'll always get in touch if there's likely to be a longer than a day or two.

What methods of postage do you offer to international customers?

Currently we only offer Royal Mail Airmail & Signed For services. This isn't because we're tight, but sending jewellery using a courier is a right pain - most couriers won't take it and those that do will charge a small fortune. If you need something in a hurry and live in Utah or Melbourne, drop us an email and we'll get the best quote we can for you. As soon as we can score a faster shipping service for a nice price, we're all over that!

What sort of chains are right for a man's necklace?

We have two sorts of chains on Off The Map, a trace chain and a curb chain. MOST of the time, a curb chain is chosen for a man but some men prefer a more lightweight necklace and the trace chain is equally unisex. Depends on the chap in question of course.

Where are you based and do you have a shop?

We're based in a top secret location in Hove.  We don't publicise our physical address for security reasons and as protection from robbers and undesirables. If you do want to pop in to take a look at something give us a call and we can arrange a visit for you.

Do you have your lovely stuff in any shops around the world?

Not yet BUT we WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM ANYONE who has a lovely travel store online/offline/in outer space. We're all up for stocking our stuff with some nice people who love travel and adventure.
